Rod Barton, Transport Matters Party MP in Victoria, put forward the motion for drivers over the age of 65 to regularly sit licence renewal tests, leaving many people outraged. 

"This is a discussion and this was brought about because of incidents that have happened here in Victoria," he told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live.

Oly asked Mr Barton whether making these senior drivers display an 'S-plate' will make others on the road more courteous and slow down when passing by.

"Look I am not a fan of the S-plate. I think it's putting a target on them and I am not 100% confident that would be successful," Mr Barton said. 

"It is really about what would be in a perfect world and I had these conversations with my own Father who was 90 and still driving. I can tell you he wouldn't of passed a road test."
