The Brownlow medal coverage copped a vast amount of criticism on Monday due to the bombardment of betting advertisements, especially due to the dangers of a young audience watching who may think it's normal. 

Kate Chaney, Independent Federal Member for Curtin, spoke to Mark Gibson on Perth Live to discuss her involvement in the new inquiry into gambling reform.

"It's something that I care a lot about which is gambling advertising restrictions in the way that they affect children's exposure to gambling products," Kate told Mark. 

"This normalisation of gambling and presenting it as news instead of advertising is a real worry."

Research shows almost three quarters of Australian parents are ‘bothered’ by their children being exposed to gambling ads. 

"The chips are really stacked against young people - they really know how to get into their heads by trying to make it look like a healthy social activity -it's preying on people who are already a bit vulnerable," she said.
