Education Minister, Sue Ellery joined Perth Live to outline the details for a safe reopening of schools next week and was available to take calls from parents. 


Minister Ellery, confirmed the measures that would be put in place for students, including masks being mandatory for students year 7 and above, "In Perth, Peel and the South-West, so those current mask arrangements are in place. The Chief Health Officer has also indicated that when we go to much larger case loads than we have now his recommendation is that year 3 and above will be included in that mandate."


The Minister confirmed that if a student tests positive, they will be sent home to isolate for 14 days and the Chief Health Officer (CHO) will assess the situation and make a decision to either close the school or to close part of the school.
Minister Ellery confirmed that schools prepared their plans for at home learning last year, with online learning, hard copy packs and access to a range of programs on the Education Department website will be available. 


And Ellery also updated Oly about the outspoken anti-vax Principal of Divine Mercy College. "He has written to me advising that he intends to ensure that his school follows all of the health advice."
