Victoria has announced a number of changes to short stay accommodation laws, including allowing local councils to ban residents from renting their properties through Airbnb.

A 7.5 per cent levy is set to be introduced on January 1, but it was announced property owners leasing their own primary residences won't be hit with.  

Greens MP Brad Pettitt told Oly Peterson on Perth Live WA needs similar laws.
