$100,000 grants given to organisations employing people with disabilities

The State Government announced they will be providing grants of up to $100,000 to organisations that employ people with disabilities. 

A task force will be established to help find jobs for the 750 Activ Foundation employees who will soon be out of a job. 

Don Punch, Disability Minister told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that these grants are part of the government's $4 million contribution to West Australian disability enterprises. 

"These are organisations that provide supported employment opportunities to people with disabilities. They're specifically geared into enabling these enterprise to gear up given the announced closure of Activ workshops," he told Oly.

Six organisations including Work Powered and Good Sammies have already raised their hands to start employing these workers. 

"They already in this area they are working with people with disabilities and they've got a whole different range of activities that they've got for people."

"It really is very much like an everyday workplace and it's absolutely great for the people participating in it."
