Travellers will be able to take the long-delayed Forrestfield-Airport rail link to get to Perth Airport from October 9.

Three new stations have been created as part of the $1.9 billion project including Airport Central, Redcliffe and High Wycombe.

Rita Saffioti, Transport Minister told Oliver Peterson on Perth Live that the train trip is a short 18 minute ride from Perth City to the airport.

"It's pretty fast, you feel like you're in a different country and it's completely different to anything we experience here in Perth," she told Oly.

"We've capped all train fares to a 2-zone fare. So that is the most you will pay for a train trip across our network."

Ms Saffioti further highlighted that they are expecting around 20,000 trips per day, going up to 29,000 in 2030.

Oly asked Ms Saffioti whether she plans to provide a clear cut answer to the Parliament and the public on the costs, the status and the time of the Metronet projects.

"I am sitting in Parliament today and they didn't ask any questions on it - all the numbers are revealed in the budget and are clearly listed. The time frame we continually update," she said.

"When there is changes in cost and time frames, we actually were the first State Government to differ projects. 17 projects were differed about 12 months ago due to capacity restraints in the market."
