In March 1979, Bill Brassell and Colin Enright took 2XX to the streets, literally, broadcasting the Breakfast show from the Barry Drive median strip, a line of cable stretching to the Drill Hall studios secured by duct tape. Colin and Bill had a blast, although the AFP weren't so happy. And all good stories have a sweet edge: a chance meeting between Colin and Jane on that median strip saw them tie the knot just six months later. Bill, Colin and Jane share memories of 2XX and what came next.

To mark 2XX’s 50th anniversary year, we’ve invited the people who have powered 2XX’s journey across 5 decades to join us on-air. Their stories trace the highs, lows, dramas and great times.

Plus, newly digitised archival recordings help chart the musical, political, social and cultural changes in Canberra and Australia since 1976.

If you were there, don’t be square. If you weren’t, you’d wish you had been!
