4-17 Whole Show with Donny Football

We didn't get the suspense we were hoping for. Game 82 is upon us and it does not matter. The Capitals and Islanders clinched the last two playoff spots before the Penguins could even try to battle for it. Did John Tortorella sabotage the Penguins by pulling the goalie? Donny says no and won't entertain the possibility of it. The Canadiens blew yet another lead against the Red Wings. So even if the Capitals did not win, that final spot would have gone to the Red Wings. 

Sean Gentile joins the show. The first question asked: Is this season a failure? Sean says it cannot be seen as anything but. He tells us if Mike Sullivan will be back and grades the first year of Erik Karlsson in Pittsburgh. Sean gives his thoughts on the Penguins core and what else they have left in the tank. Steven Stamkos is a free agent this year, should the Penguins look into his services? 

The Borges Hockey Roundup. The Eastern Conference playoff matchups are set. Is there a "President's Trophy Curse?" Auston Matthews is sitting on 69 goals entering tonight and will play even though this game is meaningless. Would you play your superstar at risk of injury?

The Pirates were swept by the Mets. The bullpen faltered and Oneil Cruz did not look good sliding into second base. Ke'Bryan Hayes and Joey Bart were both hurt and scratched from the lineups. Jose Hernandez was sent to the minors and a move has not been announced. Will Paul Skenes be called up? Donny does not believe so. 

Alex Stumpf joins to talk about the Pirates. He immediately dispels a possible Skenes debut. He says someone like Quinn Priester is more likely to debut. Alex and Donny talk about the decision of Jared Jones being taken out at five innings.  

The spring transfer portal is open and the Pitt Panthers have been hit by the transfer bug. Donny talks about who the Panthers have lost so far and what has happened with the transfer portal. The power goes out for a few seconds in the station. This brings up college stories of power going out during live broadcasts for Donny and myself. A discussion of college cafeteria's, attractions coming to campus after we graduated, and more. 

More chocolate milk stories from college. Donny and I realize that his brother-in-law and myself were in the same fraternity at Westminster. Johnny the Barber makes a cameo appearance to tell his college chocolate milk story. 

Phone calls on the Penguins, Pirates, college chocolate milk, and the Tribal Chief calls from Parts Unknown to talk wrestling.
