Patriots quarterback Joe Milton III addresses the media on Monday, August 19, 2024.

Going to get that number seven. Always, Nah, I ain't gonna get it. You know we're gonna get it. The vets man, Joe, what's your attitude going into the this week but also the preseason finale? Same thing has always been, you know, just be ready when my name is Carl and just prepare like I am the starter. Where do you think you've grown the most from the start of camp to where you're at now? Geez man, I can tell you a lot. I've grown a lot, just as far as like just what the coach is wanting to play. You know, how's the place supposed to be operated. You know, just seeing Jacobe operate and you just know how things are supposed to go. And you know, I think he did a great job of helping their guys in the room, and the coaches did a great job of helping us get prepared for it. But you know, just being able to see Jakobe operate and you know, see how the offense is supposed to go. You know, it's a good thing to see seeing that NFL life. What is kind of your attitude out? How badly do you want to be a part of that NFL life? Now you've seen it and kind of understand it a little bit. What I mean, I don't really understand your question on that. Just how much how much more hungry are you? You do? I'm from Polgar Floord. The only thing I can do is be hungry. I feel like being in the NFL or NFL life doesn't change how hunger I am. Where I come from makes me a lot more hunger. What's been like working with Drake and what have you seen from him over the last He grew a lot, you know, for someone to be twenty one, You know, just you can see a lot more mature, you know from where I was when I was twenty one and the mindset that I had, Uh, you could tell that. You know, he's been around the right people. He got the right people in this corner. So it's good to see that. I know that you might have done some undercenter stuff in Michigan maybe, but like, how big of a transition is that to go under center when you come from these college offenses where you're in the gun, Like, it's not too much different. I feel like it just depends on the center. You just gotta get used to snapping, get to get used to catching his snaps from on the center. But other than that, it's not too much of a big difference. Real Joe Jakobe just talked about how he has to be a mentor in different ways to a guy like Drake in comparison to you. How has he been in that mentorship role so far? Oh, he's been great, you know, just far as like you know, just coming in the room and you know, just watching film with us without the coaches, letting us know as soon as to get off the field, just let us know what he would have done. Or it feels a good throw, it feels a great throw. You know, it's really not such thing as a bad throw. It's about the decision that you make. And he preaches that a lot. You know, just think about the decisions that you're making. Uh, No matter if you didn't make that read or not, just what's your decision good enough? What's like working with help my dog? Uh man, he's great, you know, he's he's a great leader. He's quiet. He may seem quiet to y'all, but you know he he talks and he just stay in the shadow, and you know, he he does a lot. You know, it's kind of hard to preach exactly what he does. But you know, the easy way to say is he makes sure you be prepared every day, day in, day out, no matter what the play is, he knows exactly what's going on and how it should be operated. Joe, want to ask you what the nept drill you guys do early in practice? Do you guys keep score on that? Is that the competition between you guys? It was keeps. It was we did keep the score like OTAs, but it kind of went away just pretty much if I think Jacobe made the most since we started though, So you know, he just used the old head talk. Uh you feel me. It's just it's cool. I mean, it's a competition, but at the same time, you know, it's just all about getting your feet right underneath you, getting based right. So do you guys compete with each other in any other ways other than maybe tracking completions or anything. I wouldn't say compete like that, just I it does it all playful? Geez, that's hard. I don't feel like we really trying to talk each other. Yeah, I mean the only old only old head talk he said was I think it was like my third day here and he made the net and he was like Uh yeah, man, come on, I got some police older than these jokers, so that feel like I feel like that was probably pretty much the the funniest thing he ever said so far. You know, just I ain't expecting him to say that, so it was pretty funny. This next week week and have to fine. Uh, I wouldn't say prove nothing. I still don't want to prove anything to nobody. I feel like, you know, why why listen to what people say if you're not gonna take advice from him? So, you know, I just go out there and just have fun. Man. I feel like that's the only thing you can do. Uh, you know, just get better day in day out, so you know, just improved from last game. I feel like every day you just gotta get better than yesterday. So you can't get those days back, so just keep going. Uh yeah, we just had two comebacks from the outside. Uh. David had a scene and the defense road to one high so all to see him, and I just wanted to put the ball there, so I got it to him, and I just want to see him make a play down field. Last question, yesterday we saw you make a pass to Baker, pulled it away from the defensive back. Everyone got excited. What was it like to see him make that play? After the man, just seeing those guys make those players, that's what they're here for, you know, just seeing those guys get opportunities and make the best of them. Seeing him make that catch, everybody got hyped and pretty much led all the way to the film back in before walkthroughs later that night. So you know, it was just a great moment for him to see, but also just to see that what type of playmaker he is. He catches every day and after practice and before, so it's it's good to see him do that. No problem. Thank y'all, God bless you.
