Patriots tight end Hunter Henry addresses the media on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
Start discouraged. We've got fifteen more games to play.
We've got a game this weekend, so it's another opportunity and a divisional opponent, a good opponent on the road, So I mean, you know, it'll be us kind of against everybody going in there, So I think that it'll be a big challenge for us.
Do you think the attention to detail, like you guys at the.
Level, I think there's good and there's bad, you know, and I think early in the game, I think we need to be a little bit more attention to detail, and that's something we're gonna, you know, do our best to do this weekend and continuing as the season goes. Ball security obviously is the is one of the biggest things. That's I think the supreme attention to detail, and we got to be, you know, really locked in on that. So we need to be better. And you know, there's there's good and there's things that we need to obviously work on and can to get better at. Basically penalty a lot of your drives, how do you come back? Yeah, I think it's just locking in on every single play, like thinking about every single.
Plays like this one.
You know, it's for the game almost like you know, we're getting at the end of the game and getting those situations, but like the second quarter, you know, the twenty fifth player of the game, Like you got to think of that play like the last play at the same time, you know what I mean, Like you have to kind of be locked in the whole game, and I think all our guys are definitely going to be trying to try to do that at each and every play. The guys, I mean, obviously you've got to start with their front.
Their front is big, physical.
And attacking nature, and you know, they they cause a lot of disruption, a lot of problems. They thrive off, you know, causing turnovers, which obviously in the first start of the start of the year, we haven't been great yet. So it's gonna be a big challenge for us starting out with that front because they just they caused so many problems in the pocket and the run game movement and and then just ball security. I mean, that would be the biggest thing because they caused a lot of turnovers.
It's a pretty energetic but he was pretty down a little bit. Yeah.
I actually talked to him on Monday, and UH told him a similar story to me. Actually, the third game of my career is the first game I'm starting. Antonio Gates was I was backing him up basically, but he got hurt. I was starting. I had a pretty good game playing Indianapolis Colts. We have a two minute drive. We're down three or four, maybe two, and all we need is a feel go. I run a really good route. There's about a minute left in the game. I catch the ball and I kind of get in the open field. I make the first guy I missed, but I'm looking at the next guy and not thinking about what's going on, and the ball gets poked out from behind, and actually I lost the game for our team, you know, in a two minute drive situation. That was my rookie year, third game of the year, you know, and really woke me up to kind of this level and humbled me a lot, and I learned a lot, and I you know, realized that I needed to hold on the ball a little bit tighter. So I kind of conveyed that to him that I mean, I'm going on my eighth year now, and I think I've only had like one other fumble and maybe eight years, and that fumble might be a little questionable lot. We can go back on the table and look at that one. But you know, Pop's a great player and we need him. He's gonna learn from this, He's gonna learn a lot from it. I enjoy going out there and compete with him. He's done a lot of great things for us, and I know he will continue to which nice.
I had a good game.
Yeah, I actually had my first touchdown the next game, and uh, I had a pretty solid game. It was definitely unmotivating factor, you know that week, it was. I was excited to get back out there by Sunday.
You know him, to expect him to I do.
He's a he's a good, good dude, and he works really hard and I know he takes pride in what he does, and so I know he'll be He'll be ready to go.
Under your numbers person.
Top of any league.
What do you attribute that?
I don't know if I attribute to anything in particular, but just you know, continuing to work, continuing to go at it. You know, I'm not I'm not like crazy concerned about all that, you know. I think the biggest thing for me is just trying to find a way to win these football games. I mean, that's that's really my main focus. I'm not really worried about all the numbers, but we just got to.
Find with that's kind of countries for turnovers, block defenses do that. But as far as you look at this game, lay the left, dude, you guys played a fairly clean game. What are your your chances win? I think ain't some one played clean game and your chances I want to go up a lot.
So that's any time in this league, and I mean there's a good opponent and a good team, but you know, anytime you play a clean game, we're definitely gonna put.
Ourselves in a good position to win. How do you like this offenses danity to be? Do you feel like you've had a chance to establish it at all these first companies? Probably not.
I like what we want.
We want to be more balanced. We have no overrow football and we wanted to.
You know, getting behind I think is also you know, that's that's on us as an offense, not scoring and kind of playing from a little bit of ahead or a close game. I mean, we've kind of been behind, so we've kind of to push the tinpole a little bit and throw the pole a little bit more so, We're not exactly where probably where we want to be, but we're striving every day to kind of kind of get there, I guess
