The town of Loxahatchee Groves wants to renegotiate its contract with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, saying it’s paying too much for law-enforcement services. The council voted to renew the 622,000-dollar contract over the objections of two council members, who said the taxes town residents and businesses pay to the county should cover the cost of patrols. One council member suggested going to 12-hour coverage from 24 as a way of controlling costs. Wellington and Royal Palm Beach already have approved their annual PBSO law-enforcement contracts.
