When Alberto Hernandez Jr. saw an unfamiliar man in his home Sunday morning, he yelled for his girlfriend to call 911. Unbeknownst to him, the girl living in his Palm Springs-area home had sneaked her 19-year-old boyfriend into the house. The girl -- though a teenager -- is younger than 16, the age at which someone legally can consent to sexual activity. So when James Deon Bryant Jr. saw Hernandez, Bryant pulled out a gun and announced that he would not be going to jail. Bryant fired a shot shortly before 11 a.m. as the girl stepped between the two men. Hernandez lunged at Bryant, the girl told authorities, and several more shots were fired, injuring Bryant and fatally wounding Hernandez.
