Two Palm Beach churches will host their annual Blessings of the Animals this Sunday. The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-By-The-Sea will host its blessing at 9 a.m. at its campus on South County Road. St. Edward’s Catholic Church will conduct a similar service at 6 p.m. on its patio off North County Road. Members and nonmembers are welcome at the blessings, which in years past have featured a wide array of creatures. The ceremonies honor Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals, and occur each year near October 4, the date of his death in 1226.
