New documents shed light on Kristen Meyer’s state of mind when her 13-month-old daughter starved to death in 2016. Meyer pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter last year in the death of Tayla Aleman. Meyer at first praised her husband, Alejandro Aleman, of being a good father and even sent him love letters from jail. Later, she told attorneys she had battled depression and other ailments and that Aleman would vanish for days, use drugs and offer her no support as she tried to raise their 11 children. She said she didn’t know Tayla was sick until the night she died.
