Most Palm Beach County water customers will see savings in their bills starting next month. County commissioners Tuesday approved a change to water rates charged by the Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department, coinciding with the May 1 date when residents in the eastern and far western parts of the county will pay the same rates. The water utilities department conducted a study to determine these rates, finding that non-residential customers — such as businesses, churches and parks — were QUOTE “not paying their fair share,” END QUOTE as a county official put it. Palm Beach County's rates for a residential customer using 5,000 gallons of water, which is $56.53, remains below several municipalities.
