Jupiter Medical Center unveiled plans for its $80 million dollar facility expected to open in 2023 on the south side of the hospital’s campus. At 90,000 square feet, it will have 16 “smart” operating rooms, two hybrid operating rooms and an advanced surgical theater. The building also will have a sterilization department of more than 5,000 square feet. The hospital said the demand for surgeries is driving the construction. Jupiter Medical Center performs more than 8,400 operations each year across 14 operating rooms that will be replaced during construction. Leaders hope to break ground on the building by this time next year, though it still needs town approval. Once completed, it will be the largest capital project in the hospital’s history by both square footage and dollar amount.
