The new, 38,823-square-foot building will be able to withstand winds up to 119 mph. Town leaders have explored replacing the police headquarters since Hurricane Matthew narrowly missed hitting Palm Beach County in 2016. Jupiter Police has used the building since at least the 1980s. Near-misses by Dorian and 2017′s Hurricane Irma only reinforced that need, Mayor Todd Wodraska said.
