Star girls basketball player Jordana Codio has transferred from American Heritage in Delray Beach to powerhouse Montverde Academy for her senior season. That means the Jupiter resident and her family are moving to Orlando. Codio initially wanted to spend her entire high school career at American Heritage, but soured on the school after an incident this past school year. After a racial slur was used in a virtual classroom, the girls basketball team started wearing Black Lives Matter shirts in pre-game warmups, and the school responded by cancelling upcoming games, claiming it was due to COVID-19 issues. Codio and her family thought otherwise and have now left the school.
