Karina Chapman - Would you trust a government-run dating app?

Would you sign up to an Australian government-run dating app to help you find love?

Singapore has just launched FirstDate, a government-backed dating app for civil servants aged 21 to 35 in response to record-low birth rates and declining marriage numbers.

It even offers vouchers for dating activities to encourage people to meet in person.

Mike is joined by Connection and Dating Expert, Karina Chapman, who questions whether Australians would want to connect through a government-run platform.

She says, “If people already struggle to trust dating apps, how many of us would willingly hand our personal information to the government for love?”

Karina believes the real issue isn't in matching people. It's helping them build the confidence and communication skills needed to create lasting relationships.

Genuine connection requires trust, attraction and the freedom to choose, not a government-approved match.
