View descriptionShare

Single and find being alone uncomfortable?

Many people try to skip solo time, jumping straight into dating after a breakup, hoping to avoid sitting in the feelings.

But all of us will be alone at some point, by choice or circumstance and while aloneness is occasionally craved, it’s more often feared, largely because it sits so close to loneliness.

But being alone doesn’t mean feeling lonely, just as being in a relationship doesn’t guarantee connection.

You can feel emotionally disconnected with someone beside you.

So, since aloneness is part of life, learning how to do it well matters.

Rather than resisting it, we can move through the discomfort and discover that it’s not only manageable, but deeply beneficial.

Doctor of Psychology, Dr Marny Lishman, Doctor of Psychology & Author of ‘Only You: The Unexpected Gift of Being Alone’ available now wherever books are sold shares her tips on why being alone can do you the world of good.
