Mike is joined by sleep expert Amanda Slinger, founder of SleepSpot, to discuss whether new research suggesting that the busiest minds may actually get the deepest sleep... is actually true.
The study found that vivid, bizarre, and immersive dreams are linked to feeling more well-rested - challenging the idea that quality sleep means the brain completely switches off.
Instead, people often feel more refreshed after active dreaming, even when the brain shows signs of activity.
With around 70% of people waking up unrefreshed, the findings echo Sigmund Freud’s idea that dreams help protect sleep by keeping disturbances at bay. While most associated with REM sleep, researchers say dreaming actually occurs throughout much of the night.
