Historically, disability support wages have been 25% higher than aged care pay, but this gap will narrow starting July 1 due to a 15% wage rise resulting from the aged care work value case and this year's increase in award wages.

According to a new NDS Workforce Census report, the conditions in the disability sector have stabilized, but there is still an undersupply of workers and a high turnover rate. The proportion of casual employees has also risen from 31% to 39% since 2020.
