WCPT 820 Interview: Clare Kennedy McLaughlin of "Titanique"

View descriptionShare

Scott and Ellen talk to Clare Kennedy McLaughlin, who stars as Céline Dion in “Titanique,” a parody of the film "Titanic" set to Céline Dion's music. It features an all-Chicago cast and is being presented by Porchlight Music Theatre in association with Broadway In Chicago. "Titanique" opens March 25th at the Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place.

McLaughlin discussed the challenges of portraying Céline Dion, including mastering the Quebecois accent and embodying Dion's theatrical style. She also highlighted the emotional impact of performing "My Heart Will Go On."

"It's like a release for both the actors and the audience," she told WCPT. "And everybody can let out their breath and is ready to feel something completely different. And so to do that, to get it right, it felt amazing. And I think that that's going to be a pretty hard part of the show for me to top in terms of favorite parts of the show."
