On this episode of Our American Stories, Roald Dahl was a British author of popular children's books which have sold more than 300 million copies worldwide. He has been called "one of the greatest storytellers for children of the 20th century.” Dahl worked in Washington DC during WWII. He married American actress Patricia Neal in 1953, and together they had 5 children. Hollywood made five of his children’s books into movies: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (twice), Matilda, The Witches, James and the Giant Peach, and The BFG.
