Bearing witness to James Baldwin

View descriptionShare
James Baldwin was born in Harlem in 1924, but spent most of his life in France. There, he wrote observations of systemic racism in America. Filmmaker Raoul Peck's documentary "I Am Not Your Negro" traces Baldwin's journey back to the United States as an observer and witness of the civil rights movement where he watches as one-by-one its leaders are killed. Namugenyi Kiwanuka joins Colin Ellis to talk about the doc, which bears witness to the life of writer James Baldwin.
