Johan Sifiso Sithebe, better known by his stage name DaMabusa, is a dynamic force in South Africa’s music scene. Cameroonian internationally acclaimed jazz artist Alain Tchapa, began his illustrious jazz career at the tender age of 12 in his hometown of Bafang, Cameroon. His journey into music began in the face of immense personal tragedy; losing both his parents at just 10 years old, he found solace and expression in music, using it as a means to heal and persevere through the hardships he faced. In the wake of South Africa's two-year Covid-19 restrictions, artists and sports professionals found themselves in dire financial straits. During this challenging period, they were paid an average of between R10 000, R20 000 and some up to R50 000 to help mitigate the economic impact. This vital support came from the sport, arts, and culture department, which aimed to provide much-needed relief to those whose livelihoods were severely affected by the pandemic. Jazz and Afro Soul musician Kapi Gantsu has released a twelve-track album, "Nomatile," in honor of his late aunt; the album includes hits such as "Ekhaya," "Ngiyavuma," and the fan favorite "Llinkomo." Telling stories of his upbringing, love, and relationships in his mother tongue language of isiXhosa, the now Johannesburg-based singer-songwriter found inspiration in hymns, spiritual, and diverse musical traditions that surrounded him. Sun Xa Experiment, a band that combines traditional African music with modern influences to create an energetic and powerful sound that has taken festivals by storm. Founded in 2014, with Lead vocalist Buyisiwe Njoko, Bass guitarist Tebogo Mkhize, Lerato Setei on the Electric guitar player, backup vocalist Karolo More and Simphiwe Watte on Percussion. The annual online South African contemporary dance conference JOMBA! MASIHAMBISANE DIALOGUES, is set to be hosted by the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Centre for Creative Arts’ JOMBA! from 22nd to 24th of May. Now in its fourth edition the conference has attracted significant participation from around the globe; from dance-makers, academics, dancers, educators, and researchers from 11 countries including Brazil, Canada, Cape Verde, France, Germany, South Africa, UK, USA, and Zimbabwe. The world-renowned Miss Teen Universe Competition is back like it never left, set to bring teenage beauty queens from across five continents to compete to win the ultimate teen crown this November along with a major TV show in South Africa. The show will feature girls aged 15-21 from across 5 continents taking part in various beauty queen activities. From the evening gown competition, testing their interview skills with the judging panel, sponsor challenges, a talent show and catwalk event- each girl will be judged based on their overall performance, style and talents.   The winner will be presented with the dazzling crown and coveted Miss Teen Universe 2024 title.
