As we close the month of November and have just welcomed 16 Days of Activism, we speak and channel this segment with Khumi Hamese, a traditional healer, activist, and national coordinator for the #NoRegulationsForHealersWithoutHealers campaign. Khumi is at the forefront of the fight against gender-based violence (GBV), using their platform to advocate for healing, empowerment, and justice. We discover how this campaign challenges regulations imposed on healers without their input and the pivotal role traditional healers play in addressing GBV in African communities. Quite articulate Khumi’s insights reveal the intersection of activism, cultural preservation, and social justice.
