Being just a 2.5-square-mile suburb, surrounded on three sides by Oklahoma City, the mere existence of The Village as its own city might just escape those who don’t live here. As mayor, Sonny Wilkinson is overseeing an effort to change the city’s identity as a car-oriented suburb to one where residents can safely walk to restaurants and shops, the city’s library and YMCA, parks and employers.
