Oklahoma City bought the lot at 1245 Northwest Second Street on August 4th, 1910, for a fire station authorized by voters in a 1909 bond election. The city council approved construction of the fire station in March 1911 and, as you would expect, it is no longer in use. The council has decided to sell the property.

Columnist Berry Tramel notes that Bob Bowlsby keeps using the word “betrayal” when discussing the announced departure of OU and Texas to the Southeastern Conference. Betrayal is a powerful word. But you certainly can understand the Big 12 commissioner’s reason for using it. Same as you can understand why the Sooners and Longhorns are leaving.

The Oklahoma high school cross country state championship races are set for Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School. The Class 6A girls race will begin at 8:30 a.m. The other races will follow throughout the day. The 4A boys run will be the last and is scheduled to begin at 2:55 p.m. We'll have full coverage at Oklahoman.com.
