On this episode, Dave Schmidt sits down with Dr. Rachel Mandel to discuss the important work being done through Family Connects Frederick County, a free program available to families throughout Frederick County that provides support and resources for new mothers and their newborns. They explore the critical early weeks and months after birth, the benefits of in-home care and support services, and why access to these resources can make a lasting difference for both parents and children. Dr. Mandel also shares how Family Connects helps ensure families receive the care, guidance, and community connections they need, regardless of their financial situation.

Dave Schmidt sat down with Danny Rodriguez who just left his position as the post commander of the VFW here in Frederick County.  These two marines chatted about their career paths going from the marines to where they are now. He talked about all the services that the VFW provides and what it takes to get into a role like this one.

In this episode, Dave Schmidt sits down with Maryland Natural Resources Police Lieutenant Bill Davis to talk about his passion for being outside. He discussed how he got into this field, where he started and how his career has grown within the department. Bill talked about what's the most rewarding part of his career and hasn't retired even though he can anytime because he loves what he does. 

In this episode, Dave Schmidt sits down with Maryland Natural Resources Police Corporal Chris Warden to talk about his passion for being outside from hunting to fishing and how he went from not knowing what he wanted to do with his life to this job. He talked about the Maryland Hunter Education Program and how important it is for young kids to take this course. Chris also talked about what it takes to get this job and maintain it. 

In this episode, Dave Schmidt sits down with Frederick County firefighter Anthony Contrino to talk about his journey from serving in the U.S. Army to becoming a firefighter. Anthony shares how his military experience helped shape his path into public service, the challenges of transitioning into civilian life, and the rewarding work of serving his community through the fire service. He also opens up about the importance of having a strong support system to come home to and how those connections can make all the difference both on and off the job.

Dave Schmidt welcomed in Frederick County Fire & Rescue Lieutenant Jonathan McKee. Jon talked about how he's always had a passion for service and that goes for his military service to now as a fire fighter for over 20 years.  He discusses the differences from being on the front lines to being in charge of these heroes. Jon also talked about transplanting a long time about from Howard to Frederick County and couldn't imagine living anywhere else.

Dave Schmidt welcomed in Frederick County Firefighter Cody Curtis. He talked about his passion for extreme sports like snowboarding and BMX. He discussed how he went from the navy to being a firefighter and how important it is to keep your physical fitness up if you want to become one yourself.

Dave Schmidt welcomed in Frederick County Fire Rescue Recruit Marisa Puizina. She discussed her active training going on within the Fire Academy, her still active service in the Army, and what lead her to this career path.
