Hometown Heroes: Colonel Ned Marsh

A native of Connecticut, Colonel Ned Marsh graduated from Providence College in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.

Initially commissioned through ROTC as an Infantry Officer he served at 1st Battalion 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment (Airborne), Fort Richardson Alaska. In 2004, he was selected and qualified as a Special Forces Officer, followed by multiple assignments at 1st Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Lewis Washington. 

COL Marsh served as the Battalion Commander at the US Army Parachute Team and his other assignments include Special Operations Command Europe, Stuttgart Germany, and US Army Special Operations Command, Ft Bragg North Carolina.

COL Marsh has deployed multiple times, in staff and command positions for combat and operations, throughout the US Central, Indo-Pacific, and European Geographic Combatant Commands.

He holds a Master of Science in Irregular Warfare from the Naval Postgraduate School, a Master of Arts in Military Operations from the US Army Command and General Staff College, School of Advanced Military Studies, and a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from the US Army War College.

He is married to the former Tara Lee Raines. Together they have three daughters
