Sligo County Council has secured funding to acquire the former old Garda station building in Ballymote.

Foroige, the national body that works with young people, aims to establish a dedicated youth space there.

The facility is set to provide out-of-school support to young people in the community and follows other successful ventures in Sligo and Tubbercurry.

Cathoirleach of Sligo County Council and Fine Gael Cllr Dara Mulvey says it's taken a lot of work to get to this point and hopes it won't be long until it's up and running:
