It's estimated at least 30 vehicles were saved from the incoming tide at Streedagh Beach last night. 

A woman reportedly walked the length of the beach last night, alerting people to move their cars. 

It's thought that if it weren't for her actions, several of the vehicles could have been damaged. 

Local Fianna Fail Cllr Donal Gilroy praised the woman in question and has issued a word of warning to beachgoers:
