Tributes have been paid to former Donegal County Councillor Pádraig Ó Dochartaigh who has died. 

Mr Ó Dochartaigh of Strand Road Derrybeg, passed away yesterday in Áras Ghaoth Dobhair.

He was first elected to Donegal County Council in 1999, representing the Glenties Electoral Area as a Fine Gael councillor.

He then contested the 2009 elections as an Independent, retaining his seat for another term but then lost out in the 2014 elections.

Fellow former Donegal County Councillor and colleague Barry O'Neill says the late Mr. Ó Dochartaigh described him as a champion for many local issues:
