The Tanaiste has accused a Sligo Leitrim TD of a bully boy attitude.

The comments were made during a clash in the Dail this afternoon over an RTE Prime Time Investigates programme on the mental health service which had a big focus on Sligo.

The families of Natalie McGuinnes and Jimmy Laughlin featured on the programme.

23 year old Natalie McGuinness was strangled to death by Oisín Conroy at an apartment on Mail Coach Road in 2015.

In 2018, 20 year old Jimmy Loughlin was beaten to death by Richard McLaughlin who broke through the front door of his Sligo town apartment as he suffered a psychotic episode.

In both cases, the killer was found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Speaking in the Dail, Sinn Fein Deputy Martin Kenny says people are being failed by the system, and accused Minister Mary Butler of making false promises.

While responding, Tanaiste Simon Harris accused Deputy Kenny of making charged comments not backed by evidence:
