Sligo Rovers could lose out on thousands of euro over sanctions imposed on Drogheda United.

The League of Ireland's disciplinary committee has imposed sanctions on the club, including a ban on supporters attending their next four away games.

It's as a result of the damage caused to facilities at Oriel Park during their Premier Division clash with Dundalk on Friday last.

As it happens, Sligo Rovers is the first club to feel the pinch of the fallout as they host Drogheda United next Saturday.

However, the sanctions mean 400 Drogheda fans won't be allowed into the Showgrounds, creating a huge loss in revenue.

Fine Gael Cllr Thomas Walsh believes other avenues could have been explored League of Ireland:
