There are renewed calls on the Government to give a top up to Sligo County Council to help with increasing road costs this year.

 

It emerged in recent weeks that this year's roads programme in Sligo is to be cut by 20% with a number of projects postponed until next year due to a big increase in the price of materials.

 

Meanwhile, 40 million euro in extra funding allocated for regional and local roads damaged during Storm Chandra - all in the east and south east of the country.

 

Sligo Cllr Michael Clarke says it’s clear this region isn't being given its fair share:
