SIPTU members employed across the Local Authority and State Agency sectors in the North West will begin industrial action today.

 

It includes a work-to-rule and the withdrawal of workplace goodwill arrangements.

 

The union says the action is over the Government's failure to establish the basis for formal negotiations on a successor public service pay agreement.

 

Sligo and Letterkenny University Hospitals will also be impacted by the action.

 

The withdrawal of workplace goodwill arrangements will involve members working strictly within their contractual obligations and withdrawing cooperation from a range of non-statutory initiatives and change programmes.

 

Head of SIPTU's Public Administration and Community Division, Brendan O'Brien, says his members feel they've been left with no other choice:
