It’s hoped the owner of Sonas Housing in Enniscrone will row back on moves to evict a number of elderly and vulnerable people.

 

Several homes in the retirement village were served eviction notices before Christmas, stating they must leave at the beginning of June.

 

A motion over the issue was deferred at the latest sitting of the Ballymote Tubbercurry MD in the hope the owner will change his mind.

 

The motion called on Sligo County Council to write to the Housing Minister asking him to step in.

 

But Independent Cllr Joe Queenan says he's been working behind the scenes.

 

He has deferred his motion to give the owner time to make the right decision:
