There's renewed concern over current infrastructure and planned development at Strandhill.

A large number of homes and businesses had major water supply issues today with the matter under investigation by Uisce Eireann.

It has however reignited fears locally over a lack of adequate infrastructure generally to cope with an expected increase in housing over the coming years.

Earlier this year, the Government awarded ten million euro to Sligo County Council to pave the way for hundreds of homes in the area, with the money to be used to provide services on the ground.

But Fine Gael Cllr Fergal Nealon is warning once again a masterplan for Strandhill must be drawn up before any development is allowed to proceed:
