There are renewed calls for patient's files at Sligo University Hospital and elsewhere to be digitised. 

It follow major revelations earlier this year over the way in which some such files had been stored in healthcare settings.

A disused building at St. Conal's Hospital in Letterkenny was highlighted as a key site of concern at that time. 

But Regional Health Forum member and Fianna Fail Cllr Edel McSharry says having files on a computer instead of paper form would have a hugely positive impact on patient care overall and feels the North West needs to be priortised in the roll out:
