There are renewed calls for more Gardai to be stationed in south Donegal. 

It comes in the wake of a spate of burglaries in the Mountcharles area in recent days. 

Concerns had been raised previously over Garda retirements in the area with no replacements coming on stream. 

Mountcharles Garda Station is also said to be in major need of refurbishment works with the level of opening hours a bone of contention locally. 

Cathaoirleach of the Donegal MD and Independent Cllr Jimmy Brogan says action is needed:
