Over 300 Council homes could become available in Sligo over the next year.

There’s said to be major progress on Sligo County Councils social housing delivery programme which indicates that up to 313 council homes could become available over the next 12 months.

However, it's estimated there's over 1600 people on the social housing waiting list.

Cathaoirleach of the Sligo Drumcliff MD and Fianna Fail Cllr Edel McSharry stressed that there must be continued efforts to reduce delays in bringing vacant homes back into use:
