The Transport Minister is being urged to provide  funding to Sligo County Council and other local authorities to get planned road projects for this year completed. 

It comes as the cost of road materials has risen by up to 30% due to the conflict in the Middle East, resulting in some projects locally being shelved until 2027. 

There's concern the problem will worsen further unless there is Government intervention. 

Speaking in the Seanad, Labour Senator Nessa Cosgrove says action is needed to ensure Sligo County Council is not on the back foot going forward:
