The Education Minister has committed to working with Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré in Sligo to progress plans for a new school building. 

The Minister was in Sligo today and met with the school community to hear first-hand the concerns and to witnesses the conditions staff and pupils are currently working in. 

The school comprises of a number of ageing prefabs and is also using part of St. Mary’s GAA clubhouse. 

The project is currently at Stage 2B which involves finalising design documents and preparing for the appointment of a contractor.

Speaking in Sligo today, Minister Hildegarde Naughton says The Department is working on a new priority list and every effort will be made to ensure Gaelscoil Chnoc na Ré is on it:
