A Sligo Councillor says political and legal resolutions will need to be found for the proposed rent increases for the residents of Nazareth Village in Sligo.

Local elected representatives, tenants of Nazareth Village and representatives from Nazareth Home Care met earlier today in Sligo.

John Thornton Chief Executive Officer Nazareth Care Ireland told today's meeting that the propose rent increases were not earmarked to carry out roof repairs which are expected to cost somewhere in the region of 3 million euro.

Labour Councillor Ann Higgins attended today's meeting. She says there is no way the tenants can be expected to pay the increased rents.
