It's thought the means test is still having an impact on carers in the North West.

It comes as more carers are expected to qualify for Carer's Allowance following changes to the income limits.

However, Cathaoirleach of the Donegal MD Cllr Jimmy Brogan has renewed calls to abolish the means test entirely so all carers can receive support regardless of income.

Cllr Brogan told Ocean FM News carers save the State billions every year and deserve greater financial recognition for the vital work they do:
