A large number of people are said to have attended yesterday's public consultation on safety measures for outside Dunkineely National School.

The event took place in the local community centre where proposals for what could be implemented were on display for residents to view. 

However it's understood some reservations were expressed over the potential removal of traffic lights which are located outside the school. 

Local Fine Gael Cllr Michael Boyle says it was a hugely successful event and remains confident work can begin this side of Christmas:
