This week’s meeting of Leitrim County Council had a number of motions tabled regarding the abolishment of the Universal Social Charge.

 

 

Independent Councillors Irene Guckian Rabbitte and James Gilmartin were two of the elected representatives calling for the charge to be abolished from January.

 

 

Cllr Gilmartin says the charge is placing a high burden on low and middle income earners during the current fuel and cost of living crisis.
