A Leitrim Councillor says the calls in a new report for thousands more "one-off" rural homes need to be build is something that should have been addressed years ago.

 

The publication from the Irish Hardware Association of Ireland is seeking urgent reform of planning regulations, to allow for more rural homes to be built.

 

 

It's reported plans to ease local authority restrictions on one-off housing, along main roads where other houses have already been built, will go before Cabinet in the coming weeks.

 

 

Leitrim Sinn Fein Councillor Padraig Fallon says many people would benefit if changes to planning regulation were introduced.
